Introducing…Newborn Photography!

Introducing…Newborn Photography!

I am excited to announce that I will be adding newborn photography to my services. Newborns are typically less than two weeks old and pictures are most often posed and taken when they are asleep. Babies change quickly. That’s why it’s important to document that first week or two of life.

The reason why–as photographers–we want to capture newborn images with the first week or two of life is positioning. Babies develop and grow curled up inside their mothers. After they are born, it is only natural that they’ll want to stretch.

To get the beautiful, curled-up images that we associate with newborn photography, it’s best to photograph the baby before he or she begins to uncurl and spread out his or her limbs, and it becomes more difficult to position them. Additionally, newborns mostly sleep in the first couple weeks of life. This is ideal for getting the dreamy, peaceful images that are typical of newborn photography.

Newborn photography can be posed in the studio or in a more natural, lifestyle session in the parents’ home or in the hospital. I plan to offer all these options. I am in the process of developing a Christmas portrait session just for newborns. I’ll announce details in October.

If you’re expecting a baby in the near future–or know someone who is–I’d like to invite you to LIKE my Facebook page by clicking HERE. I’ll be making some changes to my business and my website in the near future.  Stay tuned. Exciting changes are coming soon.
